The latest motorsport helmet from Arai after the GP-7, the GPV-R model is now available, in stock and available from ANGRi Racing - the main ARAI Motorsport Dealer in SA. This is the ultimate motorsport FIA Approved motorsport helmet for race drivers on main circuit available in sizes XS to XL.

The all-new GPV-R, holding true to the Egg-Shaped Form (ESF) and with a priority for protection embedded into even the smallest details. The reshaped shell lowers the shield pivot point to allow the upper portion of the shell to be smoother and rounder to redistribute impact energy more efficiently and minimize or even avoid impact energy intrusion. This strict adherence to the ESF, allows some impact energies to "Glance-Off"  the shell during impact.

Arai's core design philosophy of a Round and Smooth Form has evolved even further and to a new Level. The addition of the shield centre lock, with a positive lock and effortless function from either side of the helmet, shows Arai's commitment to driver protection and performance. 

• Complex Laminate Construction (CLC) Shell: A multi-layer composite shell structure engineered with carefully layered fibres and resins improves structural strength while maintaining controlled flex, which helps manage and disperse impact energy more efficiently and results in improved head protection during high-energy impacts.
  
  
• Lowered Visor Pivot System: The visor pivot point is positioned lower on the shell which allows a smoother and rounder upper surface profile that reduces snag points and helps impacts glance off the helmet rather than transferring force directly into it, improving overall energy dissipation.

• Lowered Visor Aperture Profile: The visor opening height has been reduced by approximately 17mm compared to the previous GP-7 design which increases the uninterrupted shell area above the visor, supporting improved impact performance in line with FIA test criteria and enhancing protection in critical impact zones.
  
  
• Extended Downward Field of Vision: The lower edge of the visor opening has been dropped to provide around 8mm of additional downward visibility which allows you to monitor dashboard instruments and controls more easily while maintaining full protective coverage.
  
  
• Dual-Sided Visor Lock System: A centrally mounted locking mechanism designed for operation from either side provides secure visor closure with a clear locking action, allowing you to open and close the visor reliably even while wearing gloves which improves usability during driving conditions.
  
  
• Advanced Ventilation Layout: Air intake vents have been repositioned approximately 15mm forward to optimise airflow channels through the helmet which increases cooling efficiency and helps manage heat build-up inside the helmet, resulting in improved comfort over longer sessions.
  
  
• Removable Interior Lining System: The internal padding is fully removable which allows easier cleaning and maintenance while also improving airflow circulation through the helmet, helping you maintain hygiene and consistent comfort.
  
  
• Adjustable Cheek Pad Design: Redesigned cheek pads include integrated openings for microphone installation and cable routing which simplifies communication system setup while keeping wiring neat and unobtrusive, resulting in a cleaner and more practical interior layout.
  
  
• FIA 8859-2024 and Snell SA2025 Certification: The helmet meets the latest FIA 8859-2024 and Snell SA2025 safety standards which confirms it has been tested to stringent impact, penetration and fire resistance requirements, giving you assurance of compliance with current motorsport regulations.
  
  
• FHR / HANS Post Preparation: Factory pre-drilled to accept FHR (HANS) anchor posts, allowing you to install an approved head and neck restraint system if required. Anchor posts are not included and are available separately, giving you the flexibility to configure the helmet to your chosen safety setup.
  
  
• Optional GP PED Rear Spoiler Kit: Compatible with the Arai GP PED aerodynamic rear spoiler, allowing you to add improved aerodynamic stability and reduced lift at higher speeds if required. The spoiler kit is available separately from ANGRiRacing.
  
  
• Fluid System Preparation: The helmet is pre-configured for hydration system integration which allows you to install a fluid delivery system without modification, supporting consistent hydration during extended use.

GP-VAS SHIELD SYSTEM

The GP-VAS System was developed to lower the shield pivot point and still open fully without contacting the shell, resulting in improved impact absorption performance in the FIA Standards' impact absorption test. Additionally, the highest point of the new shield in the closed position is 17mm lower than the previous model increasing the area of smooth surface above and improving it's glancing off ability.

SHIELD CENTER LOCK

The new center shield lock allows effortless function for both drivers and safety crew, from either side, with a positive lock that keeps the shield locked even when receiving an impact, clearing the FIA8859-2024.

TALLER FIELD OF VIEW

To enhance visibility, the bottom of the eye port was cut lower for better visibility of critical gauges. Thanks to the experience of our R&D team, approximately 8mm of view at the bottom of the eye port was added without affecting the protection ability of the helmet. 

SYSTEM INTERIOR PADDING

The new removable liner allows for better airflow, easier cleaning and fitment adjustment. A 7mm dense foam pad and 5mm soft foam pad on both sides of the head liner can be removed for an adjustment of up to two sizes.

CHEEK PADS

Redesigned cheek pads allow for easy microphone installation, with a small hole provided in the cover to allow for smooth routing and a clean look.

WIDER VIEW PRECUT

New for the GPV-R is a small precut portion of the upper corner of the cheek pad. When removed, this reduces upper cheek bone pressure, allowing glasses to rest more naturally. 

VENTILATION DUCT

The ventilation holes on the top of the helmet have been moved forward 15mm from the previous design, achieving better ventilation without compromising protection ability.
